Small House in Nakanohigashi by Small House Design Lab

Wednesday 19 January 2011

Pushing the boundaries of what a residential interior can look like, Small House in Nakanohigashi by Small House Design Lab, utilizes subtle level differences, materiality and colour blocking to create a sense of rooms and continuity within the small, pie-shaped house.

An interesting play on space and colour calls our attention to this project, with the space largely keeping the palette of the interior light, accentuating the space's enhancements on natural daylight. A staircase made of raw chipboard and an accent wall painted light blue help this small space stay open and airy, while definitively dividing the floor plan into function-based rooms.
