18x38 by Shaw Contract Group

NeoCon World's Trade Fair is the largest interior design trade show in the US for commercial interior design -- retail, hospitality, workplace and healthcare design. While commercial design can be decidedly less exciting than residential design, where budgets are free-er and ideas can stray further from the middle of the road, we found some inspiration and innovation at the show. Specifically in flooring and textiles.

18x36 by Shaw Contract Group

Shaw Contract Group is one of the industry leaders in the crowded world of contract carpeting. With broadloom and tile options, Shaw's designs are understated and luxurious. This year, one of my favorite items from the show was 18x36, a rectangular carpet tile that can be installed in numerous configurations, adding interest and pattern to flooring without going overboard.

Maharam Digital Projects: Along Banks of Rivers High Above by Brian Alfred

Maharam launched Maharam Digital Projects at last year's show. MDP is a collection of large scale digital prints that can each be installed as a wallcovering, but is meant to be seen as a work of art. Commissioning well known and up-and-coming designers and artists, MDP continued to expand its impressive line at this year's show. My favorite was a beautiful green farmscape called Along Banks of Rivers High Above by Brian Alfred.
